What is Spirituality anyway?

Spirituality has in the broadest sense to do with things that involve the mind (Latin: Spiritus). The word is used in many different ways and can have something to do with religion or supernatural forces, but the emphasis is on the personal inner experience (source: http://nl.wikipedia.org).

This last part I personally find to be a very nice description (personal inner experience). It can of course mean something that makes your inner self more experienced, but it can also mean how your inner self experiences something. In both cases there is a personal / spiritual / inner growth that takes place. Because of this you can improve yourself, it alters your perception and because of that you will probably see/experience (your) life in a completely different way.

Spirituality is something very personal and is therefore a little different for everybody. This is probably due to the fact that everybody has his/her own personality, and perceives/experiences everything differently because of this. The most important thing is that you always keep your own opinion about your spirituality and only answer to your own feelings. Other people probably have their own ideas about this (just like me), but this does not necessarily match your own. When your feelings/gut says that something is right (and it does not harm other life forms or is otherwise threatening to yourself and/or your surroundings), then it is usually true. Trust your own feelings.

It is of course not important at all what others think. It is about you, your growth. How you do that, or how this works for you is something you will have to find out for yourself. You can of course use the opinions and experiences of other people (you have to start somewhere right), and eventually you will create your own feeling for this. What suits you and what does not. What speaks to you and what does not.

Myself, I experience spirituality as a very broad thing. For instance, I regularly connect to crystals and feel the energy that they emanate (I even communicate with those crystals, or the entities within them as some people would say). This is something I experience as spiritual. My inner self growths because of it and because of that my insights change and evolve. Someone else may say that this is not spiritual at all but paranormal. Everybody has his/her own opinion about it. And I think that is a good thing.

We would very much like to hear your opinion about this too. It may be very interesting to see and compare some different opinions/feelings about this. It may even help people who are just discovering their Spirituality.
